Founder & Head of Design
Glenn Mckeva Wiggins, Jr. is a fashion entrepreneur and founder of Glad We Met. A native of the Toulminville neighborhood of Mobile, Alabama, Glenn grew up in an environment in which fashion was not celebrated. Yet soon after taking a few computer science courses in pursuit of a videogame design career, he needed an avenue he could truly relate to. Considering the way his mother expected him to always dress neatly with no overly baggy clothes, shirt tucked in and shoes shined before leaving the house, he realized how unique his style was compared to those of his peers, who tended to dress like each other. He always wanted to press the boundaries of apparel by wearing different pastel and bright-colored shirts and trousers. This was his way of becoming a fashion peacock among his peers, who often met it with disdain, seeing his love for fashion as just a fad instead of a form of self-expression. Even today, Glenn describes his style as “timeless, versatile, and polished.” Glenn received his B.A. in International Business & Fashion Design from Alabama A&M University, and was its first male graduate to receive the highest student award for fashion design, “Best Overall Designer.” After serving as Fashion Show Director and Creative Director for the Alabama Fashion Alliance/Fashion Week Alabama, he moved to one of the world’s fashion capitals, New York City, to connect with some of the most brilliant creatives and become one of the fashion industry’s biggest influencers. His passion for fashion and entrepreneurship has taken him to other world-class cities such as London, Toronto and Miami, in his quest to debunk the myth that fashion is all about vanity, doesn’t encourage genuine human interaction, and is only for those who can afford luxurious lifestyles. Glenn wishes to change that narrative by highlighting the authenticity in an individual’s work, coordinating industry talks to discuss fashion issues and solutions, and helping youth to build their self-confidence by encouraging them to use the power of clothing to define their individual voices and express themselves fully. While taking a break from conceiving the next best idea to invoke change upon the fashion industry, Glenn enjoys mentoring and inspiring the next generation of leaders.
